Tale of the Tapestry

Nearly 100 years ago a confident young woman left England aboard a ship bound for America. She was an excellent seamstress, barely 18 years old. In her suitcase she carried a small treasure, an antique tapestry given to her by a formerly wealthy woman who had fallen on hard times. On board the same ship she met another confident the young woman, and during the long journey at sea the two became friends. when they landed they lost touch.
One of those women became the wife of the founder of Steuber Pickles. Her son fell in love with a lovely young woman who truned out to bethe daughter of the young seamstress, Mrs. Steuber's friend from the voyage to America. A prized wedding present was the tapestry.

The tapestry now hangs in the Great room, over the fireplace here at The Cliffs. Elaine Steuber, the grand-daughter of Mrs. Steuber, now a resident of The Cliffs, generously donated this prized possession.
"It belongs there," she says with a smile of satisfaction. "It has hung over a fireplace ever since I was a young girl. Now I want to share it with my new family here at The Cliffs."
