A Haven is a place of shelter and  security, a place of quiet and calm bringing peace to each individual within.  The mission of The Haven is to provide loving care and create home-like comfort for the residents.

One of the highlights of the living space at The Haven is that Wander Garden, an enclosed secure yard for walking or simply sitting to enjoy fresh air and the sun.  Just as with all of The Haven's facilities the Wander Garden provides freedom and serenity with close supervision.

The Haven Pastoral Conference on Alzheimer's

There is a growing need for care givers to understand and recognize the symptoms of dementia.  Pastors are in a unique position to see and objectively assess changes in behavior in the members of their congregation.  Professionals from the staff at The Cliffs working with the american Alzheimer's Association presented a 3-hour long dissertation and discussion on assessment, treatment and care.

Rev. Rob Pryor of First Presbyterian Church of the Caldwells remarked on the quality and thoroughness of the program, "The nurse who led the discussions was truly well informed and very facile with her answers to the many questions. This was a great help for anyone charged with caring for others." Rev. Pryor said he particularly enjoyed the warmth and graciousness of the people and the event.

Amy Matthews, RN, on the staff at Alzheimer's Assn of Northern NJ, was the primary presenter in the program.

This seminar is one of many in the continuing education programs at The Cliffs.  Through these programs The Cliffs professional staff and outside experts will help care givers understand and objectively evaluate the needs of aging parents and loved ones.

Alzheimer's Association Meeting

The highlight of this one day event was the trade show floor where we had a booth. The show was attended by more than 400 professionals, medical and social workers responsible for the recommendation and placement of those suffering from dementia.

Our theme was about how we are complete, caring for Mind, Body and Spirit at The Haven.  This theme helped us to stand out among other care providers.

Surprisingly, some of the booths ranged from frivolous to cluttered
