In New Jersey, it is not easy to find a suitable building site for a new Assisted Living Residence. It took years to find the site on Eagle Rock Avenue in West Orange.

When choosing an Architect for the project, it was important to find someone that was not only experienced in designing Senior Citizens Residences, but also someone who would understand and appreciate the uniqueness of the site in relationship to the two historic buildings. Dave Danton of Kandelstein Danton Associates fit the job perfectly.

The Arts and Crafts Style of Architecture was chosen for The Cliffs because it fit so harmoniously with the strong bold lines of the Shrump House and Brownstone Chapel. The result was 75 Residential Units. 2 floors, on a 6 Acre Site with both the Chapel and the Shrump Residence integral parts of the site.
Details are Important
The Cliffs at Eagle Rock pays attention to details. From the DESIGN award for Senior Environments won in 2004 to the character of the home that surrounds our residents in their daily living...
Anyone can build apartments, it takes love to build a home. Every detail has been considered in the development of The Cliffs... the care, the facility and its people are evident in the joy of the residents and the touches of love in each room and in the many common areas.

The design allows residents to enjoying the open space within, like that of the Country Kitchen, or outside in the airy shelter of the central courtyard. The decor combines beauty, function and style... rendering a quiet elegance.
